Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and Get Out director Jordan Peele have teamed up to announce brand new Xbox game OD.
Kojima was rumoured to be working with Microsoft on a game called Overdose, and slight name difference aside, it turns out the rumours were true.
But when Kojima appeared on stage at The Game Awards, he surprised everyone by introducing Peele, who revealed that he is collaborating with the gaming auteur on the title in some capacity.

"[I'm] a huge fan of Hideo, this man is an icon," Peele said. "I can say from the first moment I played Metal Gear Solid 2 I knew I was experiencing the work of an artist whose craft just hits different. He's been an inspiration to me, and the opportunity to collaborate with him is just incredible...
"What he's cooking up here is completely immersive [and] utterly terrifying... what this man is building here is unlike any other game, it's crazy."

That doesn't give much away about the game, and to be fair, neither does the announcement trailer. We see the faces of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves' Sophia Lillis, Euphoria's Hunter Schafer and Iron Sky's Udo Kier repeating lines that seem nonsense (but look to be a phonetic pangram) in different emotional states, while a Geiger counter goes off in the background.

The game's official announcement gives us a little bit of information, reading: "OD explores the concept of testing your fear threshold, and what it means to OD on fear – while blurring the boundaries of gaming and film."
The announcement and Kojima himself both revealed that Peele is only one of the collaborators from the world of film who is working on the project.
Although it wasn't touched upon at The Game Awards, Kojima is also working on the Death Stranding sequel for PlayStation.
