A Short Hike has won the top prize at the Independent Games Festival Awards 2020.
Following a bird named Claire as she makes her way to the summit of a mountain, the adventure game secured the Seumas McNally Grand Prize – beating Mutazione, Slay the Spire, Eliza, Untitled Goose Game, and Anodyne 2: Turn to Dust.
A Short Hike also won the Audience Award.

"Thank you so much," developer Adam Robinson-Yu said. "I'm really, really honoured to be selected among the amazing games here at IGF. I really want to thank everybody who helped me get here today."
Digital Spy featured A Short Hike in our top indie games of 2019 list, saying at the time that it was "one of the warmest and most charming experiences" of the year.

Mutazione had the most nominations and didn't go away empty-handed, picking up Excellence in Audio. Die Gute Fabrik's game tells a heartfelt story that follows a teenager travelling to a hidden, close-knit island community to visit her grandfather.
Heaven's Vault – in which the player translates a fictional hieroglyphic language in order to uncover the history and truth about a lost civilisation – won Excellence in Narrative, while Patrick's Parabox took home Excellence in Design.
Knights and Bikes (Excellence in Visual Art), The Space Between (Nuovo Award), and BORE DOME (Best Student Game) were the other winners.
This year's ceremony was live-streamed with winners pre-recording acceptance speeches from their homes, after GDC (Game Developers Conference) was postponed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
