EastEnders topped Thursday's soap ratings (March 12) with its hour-long episode, according to overnight figures.

The BBC One soap was the most-watched programme of the day, bringing in 6.31m (28.4%) at 8pm as Mo came up with a shock plan to sort out Kat's behaviour. A further 362k (2.4%) tuned in for the BBC Three repeat at 10pm.

Emmerdale dipped to 5.25m (27.6%) in its slightly earlier timeslot of 6.45pm on ITV as Pearl left Paddy and Rhona shellshocked with her revelation. 156k (0.7%) caught up on +1 an hour later.

Neighbours gathered 669k (9.9%) as Paul Robinson clashed with his cousin Hilary at 1.45pm. The teatime screening was seen by 737k (5.2%) at 5.30pm.

Hollyoaks' Channel 4 figure remained lower than usual as 680k (3.7%) saw Lockie and Cameron make a drastic plan at 6.30pm. E4's first-look screening averaged 610k (3.2%) at 7pm.

Home and Away grabbed 264k (4.0%) at 1.15pm and 549k (3.7%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look followed with 406k (2.2%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors was seen by 1.40m (20.7%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
