Former Neighbours star Natalie Imbruglia has addressed the possibility of returning to the soap.

The singer, who rose to fame playing apprentice builder Beth Brennan in the show in the 1990s, is one of many current and former Neighbours cast members calling for it to be saved following the news it would be dropped by Channel 5 in the UK.

Following her success on UK screens in The Masked Singer, Imbruglia broached the subject of whether she'd return to the Aussie soap to help say goodbye to Ramsay Street.

"I'd consider it, yeah, she told The Mirror.

While Imbruglia admitted it'd be an unfamiliar environment at Neighbours after all these years, she's not closing the door on playing Beth once again.

"I would consider going back, I think it would be lovely to walk through those doors. I mean, I probably won't recognise anyone – not even my [on screen] son," she added.

Imbruglia is referring to Ben Hall's character Ned Willis, the son of Beth and her long-time love Brad Willis who has become a mainstay in Neighbours in recent years.

She told Heart Breakfast earlier this month: "I think at this point we just thought it was gonna go on forever so, you know, people are petitioning. Here's hoping they pull it off," she said.

"There's a character on the show who's my son! I mean, I think it'd be devastating. What's going to happen to my son?"
