Darius Perkins, the first actor to play legendary Neighbours character Scott Robinson, has died at the age of 54.
As reported by Australia's The Herald Sun, the actor passed away from cancer on Wednesday (January 2).
He played the character of Scott when Neighbours debuted in 1985, before leaving about eight months later. Jason Donovan later took over the role and went on to be involved in a number of popular storylines, like his relationship with Charlene Mitchell (played by Kylie Minogue).
The newspaper quotes Perkins' co-star, Danny Ramsay actor David Clencie as saying: "I am so sad, really devastated to lose my mate. We had this incredible bond. We were mates to the very end."
Perkins actually returned to the Aussie soap in 2013, but although the door has always been open for Scott to return, the actor instead played a different character, Marty Kranic/Kranjancic. The character was a dodgy associate of Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis).
Of course, Perkins originally played Dennis' on-screen brother, so pairing the two together again was a nice bit of meta-casting.

At the time, Perkins said: "It's great playing a bad guy because Scott Robinson was such a nice bloke and the writers have done a terrific job with Marty by showing another side."
Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.
