Marilyn struggles mending the wound in her friendship with Roo. Roo refuses to hear her apology and insists that Marilyn should leave the hospital immediately. Roo suggests that they've been friends for a long time, but things change. Roo has decided she needs a permanent break from Marilyn.
In contrast, Roo welcomes a visit from Alf and Mali, to whom she feels she owes her life. However, Roo is also reminded how much Mali, John and everyone else is healed and moving on with their lives, whilst she sits in her hospital bed, staring toward a long road to recovery.
Meanwhile, Remi and Eden stew over Kirby's solo career press release. Remi insists it's time for them to finally write some songs. Eden picks up her lyrics book and finds momentum through her anger at Kirby. Remi immediately sees great potential in these lyrics, but Eden pulls back, only seeing how much this song fuelled by resentment could be deeply hurtful for her once good friend.
Elsewhere, Rose has returned from seeing her mother and confronting her about her biological father, Samuel. After a night in with Bree, she debriefs with Mali, explaining how difficult the situation was. Rose understands why her mother had to walk away from Samuel. She was young, scared and confused. Mali's compassion for the situation guides her to decide she's going to visit Samuel again, and this time, she would like to invite Mali along.
