Home and Away alumnus Kate Ritchie has apologised on social media after being arrested for drink-driving.

The soap actress-turned-radio host and Australia's Got Talent judge was stopped by police for a random breath test in Sydney suburb Pagewood.

She said that, after testing positive for alcohol in her car, she was taken to the local police station and was tested again. Her second test came with 0.06, above the legal limit of 0.05.

On her Instagram page, Ritchie wrote: "Recently I undertook a random breath test. Although it was low level, the test came back positive.

"I made a poor decision and there is no doubt I understand the seriousness of my actions. I am truly sorry, Kate."

The publication also reported that Ritchie was issued with a three-month driving ban, and a $600 fine on the spot.

A spokesperson for radio station Nova issued a further statement to NewsAU, stating: "Whilst we don't usually comment on this type of unfounded speculation, or confirm our presenter line up for 2023, we have no plans for any changes to the Kate, Tim & Joel drive show or Kate's role within the show.

Ritchie was announced last year to be joining the judging panel for Australia's Got Talent, alongside returning judge Shane Jacobson, Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon, and How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris.

However, the series was postponed to this year due to pandemic restrictions, and it was announced that David Walliams had replaced Neil Patrick Harris on the panel.

Filming took place a few months back, the series is expected to premiere soon.
