Mac wants to be wooed by Ari, but his time behind bars has shaken his confidence when it comes to dating. When Ari shows her how he likes to spend his day – fishing – her positive attitude towards it is not only encouraging, but also a sudden challenge for Ari. Just how far can he test her loyalty?
While out on the water, Mac's fishing ability impresses Ari, which forces a confession out of her about going fishing with her dad as a little girl. After she successfully catches a fish, Mac decides to turn the tables and surprises Ari with an intimate dinner for them.
Meanwhile, Nikau finds Tane preparing to leave town for a while. Calling out his uncle for being a coward is the wake-up Tane needed to rethink his strategy. When he sits down with Nikau to talk about the strong feelings he has towards Mac, it's the younger Nikau who offers solid words of advice.

Roo and Alf realise Marilyn is continuing to avoid their household, which they know they have to confront her about, if only they could get her to stay around the house long enough.
