Home and Away is due to give Mackenzie Booth a surprising new love interest this week, at least as far as Australian broadcast schedules are concerned.
Aussie viewers will know that Mac is currently having a thing with Colby Thorne, but it's not really working out for her and her eyes will begin to wander.
Speaking to TV Week, Mackenzie actress Emily Weir said: "Mac felt Colby didn't prioritise her in his life. He didn't have time for her. Granted, he had a lot going on with Bella and with his police work, but she's tired of coming second."

Her eyes land on one of the soap's newest characters, Ari Parata. They will bond as Mac offers her support to Ari as he tries looking for a job, and she finds his demeanour enticing.
"Ari appeals because he seems drama-free," the actress added. "He's relaxed and easy and she finds him attractive.

"She's craving simplicity and wants to avoid 'complicated'. Ari seems someone who's calm and relaxed with himself."

But this is a soap, so this romance will of course be complicated. Ari not only has a criminal past that he's trying to keep quiet about, but he was also a prison mate of Mac's brother Dean.
Mackenzie will start talking about Ari to Dean, and he's not going to be very comfortable with that, and will try to push her back to Colby.
Home and Away will air these scenes this week in Australia, and later in the year for UK viewers. It currently airs Mondays and Fridays at 1.15pm on Channel 5.
