"I'm so excited about the future, but I'm going to miss Hollyoaks so much. I feel it's my time – it's time to go now," she told Digital Spy at last night's (June 2nd) British Soap Awards.

"Holly's been through so much in the past five years and it's been an absolute pleasure to play her."

The rumours of her going off to try to crack America have a bit of truth behind them, as Amanda revealed she's keeping her options open "worldwide" for new acting gigs.

"I have no set plans, I'm just looking forward to some new opportunities – whether that be America, UK, or worldwide. I'm an actress and I just want to act."

She might be leaving, but she hasn't left yet, and although she revealed she does know how Holly's story ends, she didn't give away any spoilers.

"I'm still filming to end of summer, so it will be on screen in or around September. It's exciting, there's some exciting stuff coming up," she said. "It's going to be emotional."

Clapham joined Hollyoaks back in 2013 as the fifth actress to play Holly Cunningham, the daughter of legendary temptress Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring).

More recently, the show explored the issue of sexual assault when Holly was attacked by her boyfriend Nick Savage (Ben-Ryan Davies).

Hollyoaks airs first-look episodes at 7pm on E4, and encore presentations each Monday through Friday at 6.30pm on Channel 4.
