Exclusive: Hollyoaks stars tease dramatic new stunt stories

Hollyoaks stars have teased that a new stunt storyline will air in the coming months.

Cast members from the show spoke to Digital Spy on the British Soap Awards red carpet recently, previewing more jeopardy and danger to come for the villagers.

2022 has already been a high-stakes year for the Channel 4 drama, with an explosion rocking Marnie Nightingale's patisserie in January and the school students being involved in a mini-bus crash in March.

Asked about upcoming storylines, Harvey Virdi – who plays Misbah Maalik – told Digital Spy: "I know there's probably going to be a stunt at some point! I can't probably say any more than that, but that's always something that we like to do.

"What more can I say without giving it away? Probably not much more! I think there's some exciting times, there's some fun, there's some dancing hopefully coming up. I can't probably say any more – I'll get told off!"

Emily Burnett, who plays Olivia Bradshaw, added: "It's Hollyoaks – of course there's more stunts!

"We've got some really, really amazing ones coming this year. I'm excited to be a part of them, so it's going to be good."

Earlier this year, Hollyoaks' executive producer Lucy Allan spoke to Digital Spy about her desire to play out more stunt storylines in 2022.

In an interview which tied in with the explosion, Lucy teased: "We're not ruthlessly tied to anywhere, but we want to do another stunt this year. We're planning for it and we're working towards it."

Hollyoaks now streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4. Selected omnibus episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video.
