Hollyoaks' Martine Deveraux makes emotional exit in final scenes

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks' Martine Deveraux (Kéllé Bryan) left the village for good in dramatic scenes which saw her leave her family behind in tonight's (June 3) episode.

Arguments started heating up between Martine and husband Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood) after their killer son Toby was moved to a maximum security prison in Dorset.

While Martine wanted to move closer to Toby, Felix held steadfast that the family should stay in the village and it eventually spelled their doom.

In scenes which aired tonight, tension rose when Felix found out his teenage son DeMarcus had been attacked by Vicky's boyfriend Joseph out of jealousy and went after him in a rage. Meanwhile, Martine found out about the plans to move Toby to a new prison.

Matrine and Felix put forward their opposing views but DeMarcus made his opinion clear: He wasn't leaving. While Martine promised to Felix she would be going "with or without you".

In an emotional goodbye tour, Martine handed her shop keys to Pearl and said her farewells to best friend Grace, although she put up a fight. Despite Martine and Felix's best efforts, they parted ways as Martine told him: "We have to let each other go, set each other free."

In her final moments as both Felix and Martine shed tears, she got into a taxi and drove away.

Bryan broke the news to fans earlier today on Loose Women that she would be leaving the role after four years. She said: "Ugh gosh this is really weird. This is a secret that I've been keeping for so long so actually saying it out loud feels really weird.

"So, tonight on Hollyoaks will be my very last scene. So, exclusively for Loose Women, I'm departing the show after four years of playing the same character, I'm off!"

Hollyoaks now streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.
