Hollyoaks' Mac Nightingale is no more, after the villain became serial killer Breda's latest victim.

Wednesday's E4 first-look episode saw Mac (David Easter) gloating and revealing his evil plans in front of Breda McQueen (Moya Brady), thinking his son James (Gregory Finnegan) is dead. Unfortunately for him, Breda's lasagne that he was eating had been poisoned, and he died (but not before being hit over the head with the lasagne dish).

David Easter, who played Mac, had the perfect response to his character's death, as he jokingly declared that he would never ever touch lasagne again.

"I will Never eat Lasagne Again!!" Easter posted.

At least Mac loved the lasagne in his final moments. "This is lovely... This is the best meal I've had since the care home," Mac said during the episode while celebrating James' 'death'.

But James is still alive. Breda revealed to Mac just before he died that she didn't put enough poison in his coffee to kill him.

"He'll have a nasty headache, but he'll pull through," she taunted. "James was never my intended victim. You were.

"I don't enjoy the killing. It's about making the world a better place."

It looks like Romeo may be the one to get the blame to start off with, as he came upon the crime scene and wiped off some blood on his jumper...

Hollyoaks continues Mondays through Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look episodes on E4 at 7pm.
