Former Holby City star Rosie Marcel clearly learned a lot from her time on the BBC medical soap, as she's revealed her knowledge from her years playing surgeon Jac Naylor actually helped her with a real-life medical emergency.

The star revealed her impressive feat on Instagram this week, sharing how she spotted a man alone on the street who was covered in blood, so wasted no time in rushing over to help him. Marcel explained he was "bleeding very profusely" and had a number of wounds on his face, arms and head, which she tended to with her own first aid kit.

"My amazing daughter sat in the car and FaceTimed with her dad as she was a little scared so that I could help him. She even gave up her car blanket for him to stay warm. Eventually police and ambulance turned up to deal with the incident and to take care of the man," the actress shared.

As for how she was able to spring into action so quickly? That was all thanks to her lengthy career pretending to be in the medical field. "I do have more medical knowledge I guess than an average person? 16 years teaches you some things," she explained.

"But it wasn't that…. It was that I should have stopped. I should help. I should do what I can for someone in need. There are too many of us who turn a blind eye to pain and mistreatment. I will always stop. I'd want someone to do it for me."

The star also attached a couple of photos from the incident, and explained that the man she helped is thankfully now "doing well". However, Marcel added she couldn't go into too much more detail as an investigation into the man's injuries was still underway.

Holby City left the airwaves back in March after 23 years, with Marcel's Jac Naylor finally meeting her end in an emotional episode that paid a poignant tribute to the NHS.
