Emmerdale star Claire King has admitted that she was nervous about returning as Kim Tate after 20 years away.

The actress is about to make her dramatic return as soap icon Kim, with her unmissable comeback scenes due to air next week.

Speaking at an Emmerdale press event today (October 2), King said: "It's a nerve-wracking thing to do. You've left on such a high and it could all go horribly wrong.

"Of course I felt the pressure. I think because Kim was such a big character previously and everyone has such great memories of her, I didn't want to spoil that memory. You just think, 'Can I still do this?'

"My first few days were great – it was almost like doing a new job. As a jobbing actor, as I have been for the last 20 years, it felt great. But then when I was filming on Home Farm, I started thinking, 'Oh God, here we go. She's back'."
