Former Emmerdale star Lisa Riley has admitted that she could be open to the idea of reprising her role as Mandy Dingle.

Lisa played Mandy for six years from 1995 to 2001, but her career has gone from strength to strength since she decided to bow out of the role.

Despite leaving the show nearly two decades ago, Lisa is still inundated with questions about whether she'd be tempted to go back.

"I always say 'never say never'. They always ask me to go back to Emmerdale,"Lisa said to Express.co.uk.

"Playing Mandy Dingle, for seven and a half years, don't get me wrong, it was amazing and now it's been 20 years ago. It's great that the public would want me to go back."

And it's not just fans who are desperate for Mandy to return – her former co-stars have been encouraging her too.

"Dominic Brunt [who plays Paddy, Mandy's ex-husband] desperately wants me to go back," Lisa admitted. "He's like 'Come back, what's to lose?' and I'm like I don't know.

"Maybe it is my pension fund, maybe there will be one day when I am sixty and it's my pension."
