Emmerdale's Lachlan White has been growing increasingly dark over the past few months, culminating in the brutal murder of his former cellmate Gerry Roberts in May.
And despite the fact that he's an actual cold-blooded killer, actor Thomas Atkinson has revealed that Lachlan is actually going to get worse somehow.

"He's going to get a lot darker, which some of the audience might not like but for me it's fun anyway," he told Digital Spy at the British Soap Awards. "It's going to be quite interesting."
Although the actor doesn't use social media, he revealed that he has seen some of the viewer reaction to Gerry's death, and he completely understands why they were so upset.
"Yeah I've seen some (reactions)," he said. "My friends show me and stuff like that. I didn't want him to go either! He's a good friend."
And Thomas admitted that he wants his character to kill again in future, as he loves playing out the dark scenes.
"It's a bit weird but yeah I think I would [like Lachlan to kill again]," he said. "For me as an actor it's interesting to do, so how can I not want that?"
If Lachlan continues on this path, Thomas may find himself up for Villain of the Year at the 2019 British Soap Awards...
