Don't expect to see real-life couple Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden carrying over their romance on screen in Emmerdale.
What to Read Next
The pair have been dating away from their shared workplace on-and-off for close to 11 years and have two young sons together, 7-year-old son Buster and toddler Bowie Grey.
However, they've revealed to OK! Magazine that they once turned down a request from Emmerdale writers to have their characters Debbie Dingle and David Metcalfe fall in love on screen.
"They once told us they were considering it and we were the first to ring up and ask for it not to happen," Matthew recalled.
"It's too much – living with each other, working with each other and then being romantically linked in the show together," Charley added. "Also, they are characters who wouldn't suit."
Both Charley and Matthew have been mainstays on Emmerdale for years, and it seems as if that won't be changing any time in the near future.
"I can see me being at Emmerdale for the rest of my career. I love it," Matthew said. "I do have that urge to do some theatre again in the future but I'm so happy there."
Charley concurred: "You do sometimes think about wanting to play a different character but I'm fine as I am at the moment.
"I get to go home to Buster and Bowie each night and you can't put a price on that. There's no job more important than being with your family."
