Rhona Goskirk has learned her fate after being arrested for kidnapping baby Ivy in Emmerdale.

Last week, Rhona fled the village with the newborn after learning that her ex-husband Gus Malcolms was planning to move away to France with Ivy. She was subsequently arrested after Gus called the police.

Viewers will remember that Rhona only found out about Ivy's existence last year when Gus admitted he'd used her embryo without permission for fertility treatments with his late wife Lucy.

In Tuesday's (February 13) episode, Marlon and Mary found out that local lawyer Ethan Anderson had offered to represent Rhona during her police interrogation.

In the interrogation room, Rhona was outraged when the detective suggested she wasn't Ivy's parent because she "gave [Gus] and his wife permission to use your embryos".

"I did not give them my permission," Rhona shot back. "Gus and Lucy stole [the embryo] from me. I bet he didn't even tell you that, did he?"

Rhona filled in the detectives about how Gus had paid their fertility clinic to continue storing her embryos without permission and then used one to help Lucy carry a child.

The police agreed to look into the matter before Gus left for France, but kept Rhona in custody because she'd taken Ivy without consent.

Later, the detective returned to the interrogation room to confirm that Gus was now in custody while they investigated Rhona's allegation. However, they had to place Ivy in the care of social services.

Rhona begged to be allowed to take care of Ivy, but was told she had "no parental rights" for the child. The detective then revealed that Rhona would still face charges regardless of what happened with Gus.

"I've spoken with CPS and they are satisfied there is enough evidence to bring a case against you," the detective explained.

Rhona was horrified when she was told she'd be charged with the offence of kidnap.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
