Emmerdale star Jessie Elland, who plays Chloe Harris, has opened up about the big Chloe and Kerry twist on the soap.

In case you missed it, it has been confirmed on the show that Kerry Wyatt is Chloe’s mother.

And now, in an interview with Inside Soap, Elland has opened up about the big twist and what it means for her character.

"Chloe and Kerry already had this nice relationship and Kerry was acting like her surrogate mum," she explained.

"Chloe has always been loyal to Kerry and grateful for how she has looked after her. But now there is a weird tension between them because Kerry has been keeping this secret from her," she said.

"Chloe wants to support Kerry through her terrible time with Al, but all the time there is a voice in her head which says: 'I want to know who I am.'," she added.

Recent episodes have seen Chloe going through a bad time herself with Mackenzie after falling pregnant following their one time fling.

Chloe decided leaving the village was the only option. After growing concerned for Chloe, Kerry desperately tried to stop her from going through with her plan to leave. It was at this moment that Kerry revealed to Chloe that she was her mother

Elland also talked about what it was like to discover she'd be taking on these storylines.

"It’s a bit like being called into the teacher’s office whenever you’re asked to go in. Then they told me about two big storylines at the same time – the pregnancy story and about Kerry being Chloe’s mum," she said.

"It was a big shock, but I felt very privileged to get these stories as there is so much to both of them," she added.
