Emmerdale's Mary Goskirk opens up about her sexuality in emotional scenes

Mary Goskirk has confided in Kim Tate about her sexuality in emotional Emmerdale scenes.

In Monday's episode, Mary opened up about her lost love with former neighbour Louise during an emotional chat with Kim.

Mary initially clammed up when Kim asked if there had been anyone else in her life following her husband's death, but Kim assured Mary anything they discussed would stay private.

"I moved here for three reasons: to fix things with my daughter, to make a new start and to use that fresh start to be more open about myself," Mary explained.

Mary admitted she'd never spoken her truth, before clarifying that there was only "the truth". The truth, when it comes to Mary, is that she'd fallen in love with neighbour Louise.

Sadly, Louise died from COVID-19 before they could properly be together, so Mary has been trying to grieve the loss ever since she arrived in the village.

"I'm gay," she confided in Kim. "Oh my goodness, I've said it. It's only taken me my whole life."

Mary admitted she felt that hiding her feelings for Louise made it a "guilty little secret", adding: "She deserves better."

Kim assured Mary that her feelings for Louise were no longer a secret. Later, Mary tried to open up to Rhona, setting a lunch date to talk the following day.

Unfortunately, soap bosses have already revealed that Rhona will react badly to Mary's truth in upcoming episodes. Can Rhona accept her mum for who she truly is?
