Emmerdale's Rebecca Sarker says Meena will be missed after exit

Emmerdale's Rebecca Sarker has discussed Meena Jutla's upcoming exit, ahead of next week's court episodes.

Paige Sandhu is leaving the ITV soap regardless of which way the trial goes, with Meena's storyline coming to an end. And speaking to Digital Spy and other media, Rebecca – who plays Meena's sister Manpreet – said that she'll miss her co-star.

"Of course I'm going to miss her," she said. "I think the show will miss her. I always say that. But I don't think it'll be long before we see her on our screens again in some other incarnation.

"We text each other the other day about it. I can't allow myself to feel sad about it because I just feel that our relationship is so much more than Emmerdale. Yes, we had the good fortune to meet on Emmerdale, but it's not where it ends. For me, anyway!

When asked about being part of the thrilling storyline, Rebecca said it's been "wonderful" and an "absolute rollercoaster of a ride" to play it out.

"There have been ups and downs," she continued. "More the former than the latter. All of us as a collective, I think we've really committed to the story.

"We've all been invested in it. We've tried to make it as good and as gripping as it could possibly be.

"I think that's quite a responsibility to pull off – or to be expected to pull off – such a dramatic, almost theatrical story. I think as well as a source of anxiety in those terms, I think it's been a source of great pride. I hope so anyway, for everyone involved."
