Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale's Isobel Steele and Bradley Johnson have opened up on their ambitions for their respective futures on the soap as Liv Flaherty and Vinny Dingle, confirming that neither have a desire to leave any time soon.

Steele, who joined the soap in 2016, reflected on the security being a regular on the show provides, but also that it means she feels her role is more than just her character, instead helping to shape Emmerdale as a whole.

"I think everyone goes into it wondering where it's going to go," she told Digital Spy and other media. "The writers can change their mind at any time.

"But when you feel established, you feel part of the furniture and that's rare when you act – to feel like you're part of something and part of the bigger picture. That's really valuable to me and I'd work here for as long as I could. I just think it's a great place to work and everyone is so lovely."

Johnson shared these sentiments, also stating his appreciation for the writers entrusting him with a number of major storylines in the short time he has been on the soap.

"I'm so grateful as well. This [the wedding] is my second big storyline. I've only been here officially for two years and I'm loving playing it. As long as the writing's great, as it is, I'm just loving my time here and grateful to be here."

Currently, Liv and Vinny are taking centre stage as they plan to get married without their families or friends knowing, but doubts soon start to creep in.

Speaking about the fan reaction to the on-off (and now very much on again) couple, they both agreed that viewers "love" them together, with Steele stating how much of a positive impact Vinny has had on Liv's personality.

"Before Vinny arrived, I think Liv was more angsty and a harsher character," Steele admitted. "People quite liked that and it was also quite funny at times because Liv could say anything and she had no filter.

"I think being with Vinny has really softened Liv and we've seen a new side to her. People like that. We've become different characters as we've merged together and I think that's really nice to see."

This year marks a change for the soap, which has promised that its young stars will take the spotlight as they explore the dramas that unfold during their teenage and young adult years.

Producer Jane Hudson stated: "You're going to be seeing them much more prominent in the stories because they deal with topics that affect their generation and we see how they handle things. It's really important that we keep our youngsters coming through because they are our next generation."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
