Emmerdale star Danny Miller has explained why he doesn't regret quitting the long-running ITV soap.

The actor stepped away from the show late last year, having played Aaron Dingle since 2008, shortly after confirming that he was leaving while taking part in the latest series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

The 31 year old later detailed that his departure was driven by his need to seek out new work opportunities, and spend more time with his fiancée Steph Jones and their newborn son Albert, who they welcomed in October 2021.

"When I found out Steph was pregnant I decided I didn't want to do the 12-hour days for the first year of Albert's life, so I let them know very early on I was going. The castle had also come up, so I knew I'd be able to support us comfortably for a year," Miller told OK! recently.

"It's all been worth it and there are things in the pipeline," he added, hinting that Aaron's lack of direction on the show largely influenced his decision. "I think it was time for a bit of a change and I'm not sure if the character was a bit tired.

Despite the fact that Miller never had any doubts about moving on, he still recalls his final day of filming as "difficult", and remembers not being able to stop crying throughout the entire shoot.

"It was very emotional saying goodbye to a lot of my friends who are like my family."
