Emmerdale star reveals Dawn's reaction to Meena's murder plan

Emmerdale is building up to its explosive Valentine's Day episode when serial killer Meena returns to cause havoc at Dawn and Billy's wedding.

Olivia Bromley, who plays Dawn Taylor, has revealed more about her character's reaction to Meena's grim plans for Dawn and Billy (Jay Kontzle).

When speaking to Digital Spy and other media, Olivia began: "I think their minds are blown that in literally in a short space of time they have been having the happiest moment of their lives and are so content and family all around them and it suddenly turns into a horror show of proportions they couldn't even imagine."

Olivia admitted that the terrifying twists are made all the more shocking from the blissful wedding only moments before.

"I think both characters but particularly Dawn, have had a dread about Meena for a long time," she continued, "so for her to actually be there in front of them and to know everything she's capable of, I don't think there's more of a scary situation really.

"Especially when you are meant to be celebrating the happiest day of your life."

After saying 'I do', the couple are threatened with a sick game by Meena (Paige Sandhu) as seen in stills for next week's episode.

Olivia revealed: "Meena wants Billy to choose one of them to be shot and she drags this out in a dramatic fashion to make it as painful as possible.

"She just wants to cause maximum psychological pain rather than just disposing of both of them. She wants them both to suffer, particularly Billy."

Meena holds a grudge, as Billy rejected her in the past so she "tortures" the newlyweds as revenge.

Despite the high-stakes situation, Olivia admitted there is no easy option for Dawn and Billy as Meena is a "wildcard" who could "flip at any moment".

"I just think Dawn knows that Meena is such a wildcard that anything Billy promises might not pan out anyway," Olivia continued.

"They are completely stuck because they are with somebody who is unhinged and could flip at any moment. They can't fight back. Both Billy and Dawn could physically fight off Meena but she has this psychological control and a weapon."

The on-screen drama makes for great fun off-screen, as Olivia revealed that the storyline was the gift that kept on giving.

"When I first read the scripts I was like, 'Oh my god, this is like a feature film and there's more!'" she added. "Meena keeps getting more and more terrifying and things you just wouldn't expect.

"The tactics that she employs are like cruel but quite exciting and surprising. The various elements of the story that you wouldn't expect will make for a really good watch."
