Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale's Jai Sharma risks alienating his family tonight (February 7) as he desperately searches for a way to sort out his financial situation.

Jai and his partner Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) are currently facing eviction from Mulberry Cottage as the property's owner Kim Tate is planning to sell up.

Kim (Claire King) needs to liquidate one of her assets and sees Mulberry Cottage as the option that will secure her the highest profit.

Laurel is distraught that she might have to move out of Mulberry, where she lived with her late husband Ashley for many years. Feeling bad for her, Jai hopes to get on top of the situation and looks for potential solutions.

In Monday's episode, Laurel's stepdaughter Gabby (Rosie Bentham) is furious when she learns that Jai has encouraged Kim to sell Brook Cottage instead.

This would mean that Gabby's mother Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles) would be left homeless, so Jai is reminded of the implications of his actions.

Later, Jai and Laurel start making plans to buy Mulberry Cottage from Kim.

Jai wants to sell Holdgate so that he can raise the funds, but his sister Priya (Fiona Wade) is angry over the suggestion and brands his ideas selfish.

Soon enough, Priya and Bernice are both confronting Jai and accusing him of sneaky behaviour. Are Jai's problems mounting up?

Chris Bisson, who plays Jai, recently hinted that his character's feud with Kim could become a bigger storyline in the coming months.

He told Digital Spy and other media: "I don't know about my dream storyline, but there's a story that it looks like we could shape up.

"Obviously I can't go too much into what the fallout from this particular story is, but it's Jai head-to-head with Kim really.

"She has now taken the house away, or is about to try and take the house away, and I think there's a lot of animosity there.

"Business-wise Jai will certainly feel like he wants to have the upper hand and he wants to prove himself and also not let Kim win.

"A big pitch battle for power and control and success would be on the cards there, which would be lovely to play because I love working with Claire as well."

Emmerdale airs tonight at 7pm on ITV.
