Emmerdale brings back character for latest Dawn and Billy twist

Dawn Taylor's former partner Alex has returned to Emmerdale for troubling new scenes.

Dawn was torn over whether to let her ex Alex have contact with Lucas in Wednesday's episode (February 2), even though Billy reminded her he'd "hardly made a good impression" when he tried to abduct the boy.

Dawn reminded Billy that Alex was influenced by Meena Jutla, so she wanted to meet him to "properly" see whether Alex has truly changed.

While Dawn continued struggling with giving Alex some access to Lucas, Billy went ahead with the wedding planning by booking Marlon Dingle as caterer.

Billy would join Dawn for a talk with Alex, though he remained sceptical over the whole arrangement. Alex apologised once again for the ordeal with Lucas last year, insisting that "desperation makes you stupid".

"I'm doing everything I can to sort my life out," Alex claimed.

Dawn agreed to give Alex another chance, but only if he'd meet her and Billy's "terms". However, Alex got upset when Dawn and Billy wanted to move slowly with letting him see Lucas after the wedding.

Alex threatened to assert his legal access rights, adding: "I have to wait around waiting for you to say, 'jump'. How is that fair? You can't tell me when I can see my own kid.

"This isn't over. No way."

At the end of the episode, Alex contemplated his next move once Dawn and Billy walked out on the meeting. Viewers know Dawn will be terrorised next week — but will it be Meena or Alex tormenting her?

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
