Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale's Jai Sharma faces heartbreak next week when his partner Laurel Thomas discovers the truth about his recent fraud and rejects him.
Jai (Chris Bisson) has been experiencing major financial trouble recently, after being hit with a £100,000 fine following the disasters that occurred during the Hawksford Outdoor Pursuits adventure challenge.
After failing to secure a loan to help him pay off the fine, desperate Jai filed another application under Laurel's name – something which Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) has so far been kept in the dark about. However, it's been clear that Jai is on borrowed time and things take a turn for the worse for him next week.

With Kim Tate (Claire King) planning to boot the couple out of their home, Laurel is feeling distraught over their situation. Jai, meanwhile, is trying to come up with a way to get out of things.
What to Read Next
Soon enough, Jai and Laurel are planning to try and buy Mulberry Cottage from Kim. However, Jai angers his sister Priya Sharma (Fiona Wade) when he tells her and dad Rishi (Bhasker Patel) that they should sell Holdgate in order to raise the funds for Mulberry Cottage.
Laurel suggests that an alternative option is to reach out to the bank to apply for a mortgage. Panicking, Jai tries to stall her, well aware that Laurel won't be able to get a mortgage after his forged loan application in her name.
Unfortunately for Jai, Laurel makes up her mind to submit the mortgage application immediately. The bank soon informs her that there is a problem with her application, due to her low credit score following the recent large loan she took out.

Confused, Laurel panics about what could have happened, and Jai initially tries to bluff his way out of the situation.
But when Laurel picks up her phone to call the police and report the fraudulent loan, Jai is forced to admit that he actually took out a loan in her name.
Laurel drops her phone and stares at Jai in horror – and Jai quickly realises that his actions could be about to cost him his relationship.
A devastated Laurel orders Jai to fix his life, telling him that although she still loves him, she simply cannot forgive him for his betrayal.

Jai is left broken by Laurel's words. What will he do next?
Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw recently spoke to Digital Spy and other media about what the future might hold for Jai and Laurel, revealing that there is "a difficult road ahead" for the couple.
She added: "We know how Jai can struggle when he's on the back foot and not winning at life – so will this send him spiralling back to his old ways and will we see a darker Jai emerge from all this?"
Emmerdale airs these scenes in the week commencing Monday, February 7 on ITV.
