Emmerdale's Meena to be caught out over Manpreet lies

Emmerdale has hinted that time could be running out for Meena Jutla next week, as Manpreet Sharma's loved ones start to worry about her whereabouts.

Meena (Paige Sandhu) has spent the past few days holding Manpreet captive in a bid to keep her sinister secrets under wraps.

To cover her tracks, Meena has told everyone that Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) has travelled to Ibiza to recover after the recent pub explosion. However, in next week's episodes, the villagers start to realise that something isn't right.

As the action continues in Monday's episode (January 3), Manpreet wakes up after being drugged by Meena. She tries to apologise for her recent escape attempt, but Meena just laughs.

Things continue to work in Meena's favour when she tricks Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) into prescribing her sleeping pills, which she uses to keep drugging her sister.

Meena taunts Manpreet by announcing that she has just seven days left to live. Manpreet is terrified as Meena toys with her, crossing the first day off the planner at the house.

The next day, Meena works on her planned cover story by ordering Manpreet to write a suicide note. However, things go wrong for Meena when Manpreet's daughter Aiesha calls.

Meena learns that Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) had called Aiesha to enquire about Manpreet, believing that they were staying together.

When Rishi heard that this wasn't the case, he called the police.

Before long, Meena is bombarded with calls from both Rishi and Aiesha. This provides renewed hope that Manpreet's ordeal could be uncovered soon.

As PC Swirling (Andy Moore) and Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton) investigate Manpreet's disappearance, Meena is forced to accelerate her plans and she drags a body-shaped bag into her car. Has she silenced Manpreet forever?
