Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale's double-header on ITV tonight (May 6) featured the shocking arrest of poor Lydia Dingle, with a potential fraud charge coming her way.
Following a pleasant job interview, Lydia was approached in the café by a policewoman, who proceeded to cuff her on the suspicion of running a pension scam.
Back at the Dingle's, this news rocked the family, husband Sam in particular.

Trying to piece the mystery together – everyone who knows her acknowledged there's no way Lydia would've done something like this – Mandy and Vinny admitted to Sam that they believe the late Paul Ashdale might've been behind it.

Flying completely off the handle, Sam directed his rage towards Mandy, suggesting he'll never forgive her if Lydia goes to prison because of Paul.
Later, after Mandy threatened Nicola King away for badmouthing Lydia in front of the villagers, the latter returned home after police questioning.

Breaking down, she told Sam that they've got her down as "a wrong'un" and want her to come clean about anything she's been hiding.
With financial struggles hovering permanently over the Dingles – made much worse by this recent loan in her name – Lydia's possible jail sentence would be the icing on top of a very nasty cake.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
