Emmerdale scooped up the National Television Award for Serial Drama for the fourth year in a row tonight (January 28) and, even better for the soap, the cast members got to speak to Digital Spy at the glitzy event.
Danny Miller, who plays Aaron Dingle, is currently off our screens, so when he walked along the red carpet we couldn't help but ask him about his absence and what we can expect when the fan-favourite character returns.
"I'm on annual leave," he explained, "I just had a bit of time off, spent time with family. I'll be back, don't worry, I'll be back fairly soon.

"[Aaron's] gone to see Debbie and he's gone to see Zak so hopefully a bit of family life might bring him back around and help him be the person he wants to be again, which is not down and in the dumps about Robert and getting on with his life, as we all should."
When asked how he would feel about having a new love interest, Danny said: "Soaps are one of those things that needs to move on, so [a new love interest] is inevitable.

"It'll be great, it gives us a chance to tell stories with different characters and relationships."
The actor also said that he is missing Robert actor Ryan Hawley but would never admit that out loud. Oops.
