Emmerdale actor Claire King has opened up about how difficult it was to film certain scenes in Kim Tate and co's upcoming Christmas storyline.

Kim is set to go all out this year, as it's the first time she'll be spending the holiday with her whole family since being released from prison.

But her plans are ruined when her estranged husband Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) drops in to reveal that he's finally found out whether her granddaughter Millie is actually his biological child.

"Everything is going very smoothly, they're all seated round the dining table," said Claire. "Marlon (Mark Charnock) has just brought the cooked goose through and all the vegetables. They're just about to tuck in when Graham arrives with some devastating news..."

Graham had a very brief affair with Andrea (Anna Nightingale), who's married to Kim's son Jamie, a few years ago – but only embarked on a mission to prove Millie's paternity recently.

"It wasn't fun to shoot, it was a very long day. Christmas Day went on for hours," King laughed. "It's fun playing out all the hard drama but it's also hard work. You've got to concentrate and get on with it.

"When there's five or six people in the scene, you've got to focus. But it's enjoyable and I'm very honoured to have the writing that is written for me and to have such powerful storylines."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
