Tonight's episode of Emmerdale witnessed the return of Lisa Dingle to the village, who brought with her some devastating news for her family.
Viewers already know that Lisa (Jane Cox) has been diagnosed with a terminal heart condition, and while Charity (Emma Atkins) and Zak (Steve Halliwell) are already aware of Lisa's illness, the rest of the family have been left in the dark.
That all changed tonight (May 13) as Lisa's daughter Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) prepared a welcome home party for Lisa and Zak – but although it seemed like it was going to be a cheery affair, things took a turn for the worse when Belle started questioning Charity's sombre mood.
As Charity struggled to maintain her composure and got upset, Lisa finally broke the news to the other Dingles that she's dying and admitted that treatment is no longer working.
"When they can't treat it anymore, it leads to organ failure," Lisa told her family. "There's a lot of life left in me, but I am dying."
But as Belle and the Dingles were all left reeling from the news, Belle is left even more devastated when she discovered that Lisa had told Charity before her.

Emmerdale confirmed an exit storyline for Lisa in March, after the show's special episode for International Women's Day revealed that she has a terminal heart condition.
Speaking at the time, Jane Cox commented: "Lisa is so close to my heart as she's been such a huge part of my life for the past more than 23 years. So I know I will shed more than a few tears when it comes to filming her final scenes.
"But I'm really looking forward to my return to the show to tell this story and to give the character of Lisa a deserving farewell. I will miss her."
Emmerdale currently airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
