We don't think there's a soul out there who misses seeing Ronnie Mitchell in EastEnders more than actress Samantha Womack.

Samantha, who left the soap with her on-screen sister two years ago, has been unapologetic about her disappointment with Ronnie's exit, even admitting she "hated" the idea of it.

And now Samantha has revealed that she often challenged EastEnders bosses over Ronnie's storylines, calling her experience on the show "relentless".

"I told the producers that it was all getting too much for Ronnie, going from one trauma to the next," the actress told Mail Online.

"I came into acting through theatre, which is a very collaborative process, but in EastEnders it's just a relentless schedule and there isn't that collaboration."

Samantha explained that she often questioned her character's "murderous or bad" decisions, adding: "I knew Ronnie. I was Ronnie for nine years." Unfortunately, her attempts at questioning the ludicrous crime rate in Walford went unheard.

"I'd say, 'But why does she want to do this?' and there would be no response apart from, 'That is your script, that is what you do'," she said.
