EastEnders villain Max Branning is forced to think about his next move next week when Jane Beale finally wakes up.

Jane (Laurie Brett) has been in a coma ever since surviving the Beales' restaurant fire, which was started by Max and Steven to silence her after she discovered their awful secrets.

Although Max did contemplate killing Jane when she was recovering in hospital, a later twist suggested that he may have escaped justice when complications left her with potential brain damage.

We've already revealed that Jane is due to wake up next week, but she isn't out of danger just yet as Max is determined to keep his secret safe.

Alone with her at the hospital, Max lurks outside Jane's room and later offers to stay with her when Ian is called away.
