EastEnders star Kellie Bright has spoken out about what's in store for her character Linda Carter after Mick's tragic exit tonight (December 25).

Danny Dyer's final scenes aired in the show's much-anticipated Christmas Day episode, as Mick seemingly drowned while trying to save Linda from the water.

Linda's life had been left hanging in the balance when the car Janine was driving plummeted over the edge of a cliff into the sea.

Fans had been aware that Danny was bowing out after nine years in the role of Mick, but details of his exit had been kept under wraps until transmission.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other media at a recent Christmas press event, Kellie said: "Let’s just say Linda doesn’t get over this any time soon. She’s not going to, is she? He is the love of her life.

"I’m only up to February but we’ve just filmed some Valentine’s Day stuff and there’s a little picture of Mick up behind the bar and she wishes him a happy Valentine’s Day and blows him a kiss. He’s still very present for her in that way.

"I do know a little bit about what’s in store for Linda but I can’t tell anyone! I’ve only just found out myself and I’m excited about it which is really good."

Kellie continued: "There was definitely a moment after Danny left when I was, ‘Oh God, it’s so weird here now.’ It’s so weird being one half of something, almost. It’s that feeling.

"Linda is a tough cookie. I’ve always said she’s Barbie with a core of iron, a core of steel. She’ll definitely find her way through this and also she’s a mother to Ollie and Annie and I think that will drive her forward.

"I am quite excited about what is going to happen next. I know I’m part of something that’s going to be quite big and I’m excited about that."

As for a future romance for Linda, Kellie isn't so sure.

"I hope there's no one, for a while. I have said that but I don’t know if I’ll get listened to."
