EastEnders star Kellie Bright has confirmed Linda Carter is here to stay after her on-screen husband Danny Dyer, who plays Mick Carter, announced he was leaving.

Mick has been a fan favourite for the past decade as we have followed the highs and lows of his time in Albert Square.

Speaking to Inside Soap, Bright said: "I'm happy to stay at the moment although I am obviously sad to see Danny go.

"He's my best friend here – we've been together since the beginning and I'm really going to miss him. He wants to do other things and I support him as a mate, but as the same time, it's sad for me."

However, when trying to imagine a future for Linda without Mick, Bright said: "Hand on heart. I don't have a clue what the show has planned for Linda after Mick has gone – I haven't asked and feel as if I can't quite go there yet.

"I want to enjoy the rest of my time here with Danny and we're so busy. I don't feel the need to look that far ahead yet. They might decide Linda doesn't work without Mick one day!"

Dyer has proposed his own guesses for how Mick may be written out of the show. "I just want to go out in a huge, epic way," he said.

"I don't want to be in the back of a cab, I don't want a heart attack because of high cholesterol. I want to go out and I want to get people talking about it. So, yeah, it's gonna be huge."

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
