EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders' Nancy Carter has been left injured following an off-screen accident tonight (February 28), after actress Maddy Hill was recently spotted with an injury of her own.
Earlier this month, Maddy was seen arriving to the set of the BBC soap on crutches, with her foot in a rehabilitation boot. Now, EastEnders has revealed how it has written Maddie's real-life injury into the soap, with Nancy sharing that she suffered a nasty fall and broke her ankle while at work in the gym.
On Monday night's episode (February 28), Nancy could be seen resting her bandaged foot on a stool at the Queen Vic as Shirley (Linda Henry) walked over to ask her if it hurt.

"I weren't on a treadmill, I tripped over in the office," Nancy said.
"Well then maybe you should steer clear of the gym altogether," Shirley replied. "Your choice. But I've been saying it for years: exercise... it's bad for your health."
