EastEnders has confirmed a surprising team-up between Mick Carter and Janine Butcher as they join forces against Peter Beale in a new Christmas storyline.
The festive plot begins as Peter (Dayle Hudson) starts to put together a bid to sponsor Albert Square's Christmas tree. Unbeknown to Peter, however, Janine (Charlie Brooks) has overheard his plan and files it away for future reference.
Later, Janine flirts with a customer at The Vic so that Liam (Alfie Deegan) can steal his keys, but Liam doesn't get the hint.

With Mick (Danny Dyer) worried about money, Janine soon suggests that The Vic should put in a bid to sponsor the Square's Christmas tree, and Mick agrees that it's worth a punt.

Soon, a furious Peter approaches Janine and Mick after he learns that they outbid him to sponsor the Christmas tree. Overhearing the ruckus, Rainie (Tanya Franks) and Stuart (Ricky Champ) are both upset to learn that they've missed out too.
Later, however, Peter returns to tell Janine and Mick that he's managed to outbid them and that night Mick is left shocked to see that Janine is armed and ready to take Peter down.
As a smug Peter admires the new Christmas tree, Mick, Janine, Stuart and Rainie all walk by too. Annoyed by Peter's arrogant behaviour, Mick agrees to let Janine do something about it.

Before long, Peter is shocked to find out that the Christmas tree is now missing, and he wastes no time in confronting Mick and Janine.
Later, Janine opens up to Mick about a memory of her father, and she's left moved by Mick's words of kindness in response.
Is this beginning of a weird and wonderful new relationship for the duo?
