Bobby Beale has confessed to attacking his father Ian in EastEnders.

The shocking revelation came after the teenager began to visibly unravel in the aftermath of the attack, seeing as he'd learned his father had stolen money from The Lucy Beale Foundation.

Thursday's (December 10) episode opened up with a distressed Bobby rushing out of Ian's hospital room after hearing his dad tell Sharon that he wanted her "and that little boy" taken care of if he died.

Peter followed him out to the hallway, where Bobby was worrying aloud about his brother previously saying their father was a "bad man" who shouldn't "get away" with what he'd done.

"Shut up," Peter demanded. "Are you trying to look guilty? Because you're doing a very good job!"

The whole situation exploded when Kathy walked out to hear Peter reminding Bobby that they'd be cut out if Sharon married Ian.

Kathy finally explained why Peter wasn't in Ian's will – they'd made the decision to put Bobby in Ian's will and Peter in hers. This was news to Ben as he entered the conversation.

"We all know what your dad can be like… but Ian's heart is in the right place," Kathy insisted.

Back in the hospital room, Sharon brought up the practical challenges to getting married – she had only just begun divorce proceedings with Phil, while Jane had only recently filed to divorce Ian as well.

"I need to know that I got one thing right. That you and Albie are home," Ian then told her.

Later, Ian was left alone at the hospital awaiting the results of his hospital scan, where he admitted to his doctor Ash (Gurlaine Kaur Garcha) that he'd "brought it all on" himself.

To his surprise, Sharon arrived with an officiant to reveal that she would marry him, having decided to settle her divorce with Phil that very day.

"Your family is gonna hit the roof," Sharon admitted after the officiant finished the vows.

Kathy was stunned as she arrived with Bobby, but their argument was interrupted when Ian's condition once again deteriorated.

As Kathy cried out asking "who's done this to him?" Bobby frantically confessed: "Dad, I'm so sorry! It was me!"

But, is all truly as it seems? Viewers know that Bobby has been struggling with OCD and has been wrongly blaming himself for the family's troubles.

EastEnders continues on Friday (December 11) at 8.35pm on BBC One.
