After reducing its weekly schedule, EastEnders will air its final episode this evening (June 16) before taking a transmission break.

The BBC One soap has now officially run out of episodes filmed before the UK lockdown, but director Thomas Hescott has promised viewers they'll be desperate to return to Walford after tonight's cliffhanger.

The director and writer told fans on Twitter that he oversaw both last week's and this week's episodes, before promising a "duff duff" moment that will leave them "wanting more".

"Like a fool I totally forgot to say that last week and this weeks EastEnders are all directed by me," he wrote. "They're the last before the show has a break over the summer, and Tuesday's duff duff will definitely leave you wanting more when the show returns later this year."

Unfortunately, we don't yet know how long we'll have to wait until EastEnders returns, but filming is expected to resume at the end of this month.
