EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders star Max Bowden has spoken out after that big Ben Mitchell twist in tonight's (June 1) special scenes.
Monday's groundbreaking episode was told entirely from Ben's perspective, with limited audio, fractured sentences and subtitles to reflect the hearing difficulties he is experiencing.
When Ben pursued his dangerous job with dad Phil, the situation quickly spiralled out of control when he was held at gunpoint and realised that Danny had actually set Phil up to take the fall.
The situation then got further out of hand when Danny fired a gun off by Ben’s ear, leaving him unable to hear at all. Despite this, Phil and Ben did manage to escape, taking the money from the van with them.
The closing moments of the episode saw Ben overwhelmed with emotion as it became apparent that the limited hearing he was experiencing up until this point had now gone completely.

Speaking about what the future holds for Ben in the aftermath of tonight's episode, Max Bowden said to Digital Spy: "There will be an element of regret but he still felt something.
"There probably was regret in terms of things not going the way he planned but there was a real feeling there. In all honesty, I think he probably knows it was a dumb move."
Discussing whether he thinks Ben should stay on the right side of the law for the sake of his boyfriend Callum, Max said: "If anyone can change Ben, I think it would be Callum.
"Callum gives Ben this settlement, this idea that everything is okay and you don't have to be more than enough. I'd like to think that Ben might be able to shy away from it for a little bit longer than normal – that would be nice.
"But then everyone would be bored if it was plain-sailing every day," he added. "It's about finding a balance. Ben has that embedded in his nature and it's important to not forget that.
"Ben comes from the Mitchell family and has been part of several criminal activities so that is a part of his nature and it's something he's built businesses from. But yes, people want him to chill out a little bit I think."
EastEnders continues on Tuesday (June 2) at 7.30pm on BBC One.
