EastEnders star Milly Zero has teased some big twists in Dotty Cotton's big blackmail story – and insisted that her character's actions are coming from the right place.

Dotty knows the truth about the role Ian Beale played in Dennis's death earlier this year and has been using it to her advantage.

Next week's episodes will see Dotty issue Ian with another threat, after discovering that he's broken into The Arches and destroyed the phone containing Dennis's incriminating voicemail.

Speaking to Digital Spy about how far Dotty is willing to take her revenge on Ian, Milly –who plays her – hints that we've not seen anything yet.

"She is willing to go all the way", Milly said. "She is definitely prepared to tell Sharon but she wants Ian to feel the burn first. If she told Sharon now, it would ruin it.

"She's going to make him squirm over the next few months by getting closer to Sharon and being right there in front of his face all the time.

"She's not going to stop as he's not stopping either. He even gets a memorial bench for Dennis – councillor Beale, Saint of Walford. That is what she can't stand. She's willing to really push him on this one."

Defending the reason behind Dotty's actions, Milly added: "Dotty really knows right from wrong. She genuinely believes that Ian is a hypocrite and a liar, and she thinks Sharon has a right to know this.

"She only reason she's asking for money to buy the Arches and whatever else is because he asked her what she wanted.

"Her real issue is that she is seeing Ian be so close to Sharon and that is what's killing her. It's definitely more about the moral side of it rather than her own power."

Milly also revealed her delight at working alongside show stalwarts Adam Woodyatt (Ian) and Letitia Dean, who plays Sharon.

She said: "At first I was nervous but, because they've been there so long, they are so chilled about it so that makes you chilled about it.

"We have such a laugh on set, and because they are so professional, they can be laughing up to the last minute and then just switch on this amazing acting performance. I've learned so much working with them and it's an honour really. It's really stepped it up a gear."

Milly added: "We don't get told about our storylines too much in advance so it just sort of came about and I didn't really expect it. .

"It's also a big responsibility as Dotty is the only one who knows how Dennis died. It's the first time Dotty has been involved in her own storyline as well as she has always just been on the sideline of other people's stories."

EastEnders continues on Monday, April 6 at 8pm on BBC One.
