Linda Carter's behaviour spirals out of control as she throws herself into the New Year celebrations in EastEnders.

The soap is lining up a special episode for Linda's alcoholism storyline on New Year's Eve (Tuesday, December 31) as Linda (Kellie Bright) takes centre stage, with the episode told entirely from her point of view.

Viewers have seen Linda's drinking become a cause for concern in recent weeks, culminating in Linda spending Christmas Day in hospital after she lost track of time and continued drinking alone in Albert Square.

Despite promising husband Mick (Danny Dyer) that she wouldn't drink, Linda throws herself into the New Year's celebrations in Walford in the upcoming episode and it's not long before temptation proves too much for her.

As an intoxicated Linda's behaviour spirals out of control, it quickly becomes clear that her family is the last thing on her mind.

But as future spoilers have already revealed, the night soon takes another troubling turn when Linda finds herself in a very dangerous situation, highlighting the devastating consequences of her alcohol abuse.

"Over the festive period, Linda spirals further into addiction, culminating in a New Year's Eve special episode told completely from Linda's point of view.

"This blistering episode portrays the harrowing consequences of Linda's alcohol abuse on her friends and family alike. It is one of the most unique and important episodes we've made since my arrival a year ago."

EastEnders airs this episode on Tuesday, December 31 at 7.30pm on BBC One.
