EastEnders newcomer Max Bowden is addressing concern from long-time fans over the latest shocking twist for his character Ben Mitchell.
Ben recently returned to Albert Square intent on bankrupting his father Phil (Steve McFadden), but it was revealed in Friday's (April 12) episode that he's also got his oblivious father involved in a human trafficking ring.
Ben even pressured Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) into keeping silent about the safety of the "bunch of randoms" being trafficked by threatening Louise and Sharon would get hurt if he told Phil the truth.
The bombshell shocked many viewers, who have questioned if it's even possible to redeem Ben in the future:
The response from EastEnders fans inspired Max Bowden to address the storyline on his own Twitter, where he insisted: "FYI Ben Mitchell is not here looking to be mother Teresa."
When a Twitter follower mentioned that Ben's late boyfriend Paul Coker would be "turning over in his grave" knowing what he was up to, Bowden replied: "Correct."

Ben has plenty of dirty dealings going on at the moment. He has also threatened Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) to reveal that she's engaged if she keeps flirting with Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick).
Prior to returning to the soap earlier this month, Max Bowden told Digital Spy that Ben's willingness to do "some dodgy deals" might actually be a direct result of growing up with Phil.
"Being a Mitchell, he's always been around it – the idea of dodgy dealings has always been there," he said.
"So I think that he's not completely recluse to it, he's not against the idea of making money in potentially wrong ways, because he wants to help his dad and he wants to prove he can be an asset to that as well."
