The stars of Doctors have teased what we can expect from the final episode as the soap comes to an end after 24 years.

Last year, it was announced that the BBC had axed the daytime soap due to monetary issues. Originally set to wrap in December, the finale will now air on November 14.

As its broadcast gets closer, and following the show's win for Outstanding Achievement at The Inside Soap Awards, actors Dido Miles, Ross McLaren and Dex Lee spoke to the publication about the final episode.

"It's going to be pretty tumultuous so get ready for some fireworks," Miles said. "Certainly, we're going to pick up the pace towards the end. It's quite hard going, but good and dramatic for the whole ensemble."

McLaren added: "They came up with a storyline that involves everyone."

"Bear tries to be cool and suave on the surface but is always stressed out," Lee teased about his character. "It's already been shown that he had a bit of heartbreak a few months ago, and we'll see him band together with everyone else to defeat a common enemy — but that's all I shall say!"

The actor also explained that the final day of filming was "hugely emotional as everyone there became like family", and the cast "definitely all needed a drink" at the end of it.

"I'm so sad it's ended for the fans who were so loyal, kind, never intrusive and always so respectful when we got recognised around Birmingham," Miles explained.

"A huge thank you to them — we couldn't have done it without you!"

Doctors' cancellation comes after another BBC medical soap, Holby City, was axed in 2021, with the show airing its final episode in March 2022.

Doctors airs on BBC One and streams on iPlayer.
