Coronation Street spoilers follow from Monday's episode (October 14), which is available now on streaming service ITVX but hasn't yet aired on ITV1.

Coronation Street has revealed Ed and Ronnie Bailey as two of the main suspects in Joel Deering's murder case.

The long-running soap is now releasing episodes early on ITVX ahead of their TV broadcast – and the new scheduling started off with a bang today as Joel Deering's body was found.

Joel went missing over two weeks ago after failing to attend an important court date, which would have seen him finally answer for his crimes.

DS Swain and Kit Green have been treating Joel's disappearance as a likely fatality and this theory was ultimately verified in Corrie's latest episode when his body was spotted in the river.

A post-mortem indicated that Joel was dead before he entered the water, making this mystery a murder investigation.

Kit was quick to informally question Lauren Bolton about her whereabouts on the night of September 27, when the murder took place.

Lauren has one of the strongest motives for wanting to get rid of Joel after the violent and abusive crimes he has committed against her in recent months. Joel also tried to kill his and Lauren's unborn baby and frame her for the crime.

Giving her alibi, Lauren confirmed that she spent the night with her friend Max Turner at No.8 on September 27. She did recall a strange moment when she'd heard a noise in the garden, but explained that it turned out to be nothing.

Later at The Rovers, Joel's ex-fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey informed her father Ed and uncle Ronnie about the villain's demise.

Getting a moment alone, Ed and Ronnie shared a highly suspicious conversation which potentially implicated them in the crime.

Ed asked: "Murder? What are we going to do?"

Ronnie replied: "We're going to keep our mouths shut."
