Peter Barlow will spark concerns of an alcohol relapse on Coronation Street, as he struggles following Stephen Reid's shocking death.
Since fatally mowing the serial killer down with his car, Peter will soon be bidding farewell to the cobbles, as actor Chris Gascoyne prepares to take an extended break from the soap in December.
In scenes airing next week, Carla arrives back in Weatherfield after an unsuccessful business trip to Spain, still hostile towards Peter.

When Carla discovers that a bottle of whiskey she previously bought is missing, she begins to show concern for her husband.
Later in the week, when Carla is urgently needed at Underworld, Peter assures her that he is happy to go to his meeting for recovering alcoholics on his own.

Ahead of these scenes airing, producer Iain MacLeod spoke to Digital Spy and other media to confirm that Carla and Ken's worries are unfounded this time around, as Peter is not set to relapse.
"What we wanted to do with Peter was try to play the reality of a man who's got demons and a history of alcoholism and depressive episodes – and his reaction to what he did to Stephen," he said.
"[It's] the battle to get straight in his own mind if what he did was justified and necessary, and how much of it was actually informed by his anger over what Stephen had done to Carla and was there an element of revenge to that?
"Obviously that puts him on the rack, emotionally speaking. We were very clear when we started this story that we didn't want him to fall off the wagon again, so you won't see that."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
