Coronation Street spoilers follow.

On Coronation Street, David Platt's uncle Stephen is back and causing trouble. And, according to David's actor, Jack P Shepherd, the trouble won't stop anytime soon.

Shepherd has shared that Stephen's crime spree is only just beginning, and that no one is safe from his murderous tendencies.

This comes just days after Corrie producer Iain MacLeod stated that Stephen will be on a rampage for at least the next year.

"There's lots to come, in the best tradition of Corrie villains," said MacLeod. "If you compare him to our esteemed bad guys of the past, he's got shades of Richard Hillman for me."

Speaking to Inside Soap, Shepherd fielded a question about Stephen's path to Richard Hillman-esque villainy.

"He's big time!" the actor answered. "If David rumbles him, I think it will be a long time yet. This story is going to run and run.

"There are so many people that Stephen can kill — including members of his own family. Could there be another canal situation?"

Of course, this is a reference to when Tricky Dicky drove the whole family into the canal. Could Stephen really get that ruthless?

Shepherd also joked that a canal trip "could be interesting, as long as we're not filming it in blimmin' February."

He added: "Maybe Corrie should make an episode of Death in Paradise? Family holiday for the Platts. Caribbean setting. Whodunnit? Stephen dunnit!"

Note to Corrie writers: Save murder plots for sunny days!

Shepherd also touched upon his character's son, Max, and his prior indoctrination by far-right extremist Griff.

He spoke of David's pain at having to step back and hope Max came to his senses, saying: "If David had gone in heavy-handed, he only would have pushed Max further away. I think David realised that, and had to walk away hoping that Max came to the right conclusion before it was too late."

He continued: "David feels that he owes Max so much. He feels responsible for Max's father, Callum, dying and hiding his body — not forgetting that Max's mum Kylie is dead too.

"David is all that Max has left, and he feels an overwhelming sense of responsibility to make sure that he's all right."

All in all, things aren't looking too steady for the Platt family.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
