Coronation Street star Todd Boyce hints at another death in Stephen plot

Coronation Street killer Stephen Reid may just strike again, according to actor Todd Boyce.

Previously, Stephen murdered Leo Thompkins after the two had a fight that led to Leo receiving a blow to the head. Leo then fell into a commercial bin and a horrified Stephen was left staring at the sight of Leo's dead body.

Now, Boyce has said that while Stephen is still dealing with the fact he's a murderer, he could well kill again if needs must. Boyce believes Stephen is more than capable of killing again.

"I do think he is. He's just driven. He's a kind of type-A personality and he's just desperate and desperate people do desperate things," Boyce said.

"Now he has done it once it won't even feel as bad for him the next time, the end justifies the means."

However, Stephen is only just managing to "keep his head above water" in terms of his problems, Boyce explained. Eventually, Stephen may not be able to keep all that pressure contained.

"I don't think he's really internalised [the murder]. And he's had to sort of just keep on going and not dwell on what he has done, but there is no way he can keep that up. The pressure is really showing," Boyce said.

Stephen was having financial problems and planned to defraud his mother Audrey, but Leo became suspicious of Stephen. That led to a confrontation between the two that resulted in Leo's death and confirmed Stephen as Corrie's next big villain.

Producer Iain MacLeod previously spoke about Stephen's return to the show, calling him a "blank canvas" with a dark future ahead of him in the long-running soap.

"Mischievous is probably too light a term, but certainly Machiavellian may be a stronger word. I think he's just brought such an injection of otherness into the show," MacLeod said.
